Management
The complete transparency in the management of the entity is one of the main objectives of Sathi Sansar –World Friend. For this purpose we count on:
- An auditing firm in Nepal to supervise the application of the funds sent constantly.
- Control of the public and private organisms which finance our projects.
- Presentation of the accounts in the Annual Assembly of Members.
- Presentation of our accounts on the website.
As our entity expands both in human, economic and activity resources, we will add measures aimed at making transparency easier.
Management and Transparency
Each of our public funders demands an exhaustive evaluation of the Flow Chart of expenses and a complex qualitative analysis of every action carried out during the period of subvention with the following aims:
- Confirm that the funds contributed by the financing agency and expenditures are 100% compatible
- That the billed items relate directly to the matrix of the project as proposed.
- Recognition that the objectives with respect to the wellbeing of the beneficiary population have been equal to (or greater than) the initial proposal.
How are we able to evaluate each of these aspects?
- Every single expense, no matter how small, is accounted for by a bill that is then archived and numbered according to the subvention of each funder.
- Each group of bills is associated with one of the objectives of the project (purchase of adapted materials, transport, wages, etc.) according to the matrix put forth in the proposal of the project.
- The qualitative analysis of the project is carried out through questionnaires distributed to the beneficiary population, assemblies, interviews, reviews every trimester of the expansion of direct beneficiaries, etc., insuring that the project is truly useful and sustainable for the population. We offer to each of our public funders a verification of annual income (public and private) and a justification of all expenses that, along with the administrative documentation (including all bank statements), testify to the transparency of Sathi Sansar-World Friend.
For the moment it is not possible for us dedicate any funds toward contracting an external auditor since the dimensions of our organization are still small and our budgets are applied in entirety to the needs of our projects. Therefore we base our control of finances on internal audits and consider our public funders as external auditors, not only in terms of the part of the projects they finance, but the totality.
At the same time, now that the armed conflict in Nepal has ended and the nation has been declared a Republic, the country enjoys a new government more sensitive to the needs of its population. The Ministry of Women and the Ministry of Social Wellbeing carry out various economic audits during the fiscal year, which help us further in controlling our accounts and transparency.
We should emphasize that all of the internal auditors of SathiSansar-World Friend as well as all the people who everyday make possible this project, from Katmandu and Barcelona, are dedicated and intelligent people with years of experience in Cooperation and Development and much time on the ground under their belts. They do this work voluntarily, without any expectation of monetary remuneration.
In our organization there are biologists, doctors, physical therapists, engineers, experts in international relations, each with his or her degree of experience in applying their professional knowledge in the development of the projects. There are no celebrities or personal ambitions of any type—we form a necessary team for the development and implementation of sustainable social projects.
